Wine description
Obtained from Sangiovese grapes, Brunello di Montalcino DOCG of Castello Banfi can be considered a classic of Banfi production in Montalcino.
Tasting Notes
Intense ruby red, with slightly garnet reflections. Complex hints reach the nose, recalling first of all the dark berry fruit, overripe and jam, to then leave room for mineral and spicy hints of licorice and tobacco. In the mouth the tannins, although still energetic, prove to be well chiseled. Warm tasting and excellent persistence.
Vinification
The meticulous grape selection is followed by vinification in temperature-controlled (27-29°) Horizon hybrid stainless steel & wood tanks, with skin contact for 10-12 days.
Ageing
The wine ages for 2 years in various sizes oak barrels, 350-liter barriques for the 20%, and 60 and 90 hl casks for the 80%; the wine is subsequently aged in bottle for an additional 8-12 months before release.
