Wine description
The Banfi's Brunello di Montalcino Poggio alle Mura is born in the estate vineyards, after twenty years of research on Sangiovese, thus representing the best synthesis between territory, selection and technological innovation. Elegant and balanced Brunello, with a good persistence, complex and sweet aromas and with an important but soft structure and a nice final acidity.
Tasting Notes
Deep red color. The complexity of the aromas reveals notes of blackberry jam, tobacco and vanilla. In the mouth the great structure is felt immediately, soft and very balanced. The finish of the mouth is soft and persistent.
Vinification
The grape harvest is followed by a maceration of 12-13 days. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in temperature - controlled hybrid stainless steel & wood tanks (27-29°C).
Ageing
About 60% of the wine is aged for 2 years in French oak barriques - manufactured according to Banfi’s specifications - and the remaining 40% in large oak casks (60-90 hl). Before release, the wine is bottle-aged for an additional 12 months.
