Wine description
The Classic dessert wine, VecchioFlorio is a versatile nectar, also outstanding as an aperitif. This superior Marsala, extremely well known in Italy and abroad, is made from Grillo and Catarratto grapes and aged in old oak barrels for 30 months – well above the requirements of its DOC specification – in the tranquillity of the centuries-old vaults of Cantine Florio.
Tasting Notes
Colour: amber with hints of old gold. Aroma: very refined with scents of raisins, liquorice, dates and vanilla. Flavour: warm and full, with an elegant after-taste of ripe fruit and raisins
Vinification
Pressing of grapes with high sugar content to bring to the must all the qualities contained in the skins. Temperature-controlled fermentation with the addition to the wine of fortified must, cooked must and wine brandy.
Ageing
At least 30 months in oak casks and barrels of various sizes, then at least 3 months in the bottle.
